About Us
Scratby is situated 8 miles north of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk and is a village that on its eastern side has a long coastline which over recent years has started to crumble away. The beach has also been losing sand which then places more strain on the cliffs. A small number of people were becoming concerned about this loss and coupled with the news from Happisburgh, (12 miles to the north of Scratby), that indicated that their small loss had quickly become a huge loss, we decided to investigate the matter further.

We found a document called the 'Shore Line Management Plan' on the DEFRA (Department of the Environment Food & Rural Affairs) website which indicated that the Government predicted that the Beach and Cliffs of Scratby will fall into the sea within our lifetime, taking with it many houses and cliff top walks. Many people, both local and visitors, enjoy this area everyday. The plan indicated that there will be "no active intervention". Please go to our page 'Shoreline Management Plan'.

SCEG was formed and has become a force in the fight to get central Government and the population to be aware of the problems that lie ahead.
